The May long weekend always seems like the unofficial start to summer with all the attractions opening and events happening. Here are Niagara Families’ top selections for long weekend fun in the Niagara Region.
The Virgil Stampede returns this year on Saturday, May 21st. Gates open at 9:30am Saturday, 11am Sunday, and 9:30am Monday. The Stampede includes many fun-filled activities including amusement rides, pony rides, refreshment stands, silent auctions, and mud bogging ATV’s and trucks. Don’t miss the fireworks at 9:30 pm on Monday.

Adults $5, kids under 15 free. Sunday is free admission.
Fireworks at Heartland Forest
May 21st 7pm – dusk. $10 per carload, bring your own lawn chairs and blankets
Heartland Forest offers a fantastic fireworks display. There are also lots of other activities for the kids like Tootsie Express train rides, mini putt and more.
Lakeside Park Carousel Opens
Lakeside Park Carousel opens this weekend and there will be a Family Fun Day on Monday May 23rd from 12pm-3pm. Enjoy a free BBQ, a Bouncy Castle, the beach, a large playground, a picnic area, and the pier.
Fireworks at the Falls
The fireworks displays are back at Niagara Falls, with regular displays until the end of August. For full schedule details, check out the Niagara Parks website. Enjoy the Victoria Day fireworks display on May 23rd at 10pm, weather permitting.
Victoria Day Glow Party and Fireworks
Welland Sports Complex is hosting a Glow Party and Fireworks display on Sunday, May 22. Family activities include glow-in-the-dark face painting, bubble soccer, mobile laser tag, arts and crafts, and a disco inflatable bouncer. The activities start at 7pm and the fireworks start at dusk.
Animals at Happy Rolph’s
The animals will be at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm starting this weekend. Enjoy the animals as well as picnic areas, a nature trail along the water, and a large playground.
Marineland Opening Day
Marineland’s gates open on Saturday, and they are offering a special deal for opening day. Children 12 years of age and under will be admitted to the park for FREE, when accompanied by an adult buying a ticket at the regular gate rate.
