After combing through the Internet, here’s what the kids at Niagara Families think are the most awesome weekend events Niagara region has to offer.
FOR PARENTS ONLY – The Niagara Food and Wine Expo – Get a sitter and spend the afternoon in the company of your favourite grown up sampling the incredible flavours of the Niagara Region. The Expo is on at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, and runs from Friday until Sunday. I’ve never been to the Food and Wine Expo, and we’re going on Sunday. I am very excited, and you can look forward to a review next week. Details can be found on the Food and Wine Expo website here.
FOR OLDER KIDS – Ghost Walks of Niagara-on-the-Lake – Enjoy a guided tour of “Canada’s most haunted town” and learn the history of spirits including an angry ghost that inhabits The Angel Inn, a violent tale on Lake Ontario’s shore, and a house that makes the cameras go crazy. Friday, Saturday and Sunday through May and June at 8:30. Tour is approximately 90 minutes. Visit the Ghost Walks website for more details.
FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES WHO ARE READING – Free Comic Book Day! – Local comic book shops and select libraries participate in this day to promote literacy and share appreciation for comic books.

St. Catharines Public Library is in on the fun too, but they suggest you register in advance:
“Did you know that the first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day worldwide? Bring your friends and celebrate at the Library! Join us for activities, a craft, and of course—your free comic book!
